No One Is Going to Google You. Here's What to Do Instead.

When someone meets you at a conference, a dinner, or a chance encounter — they are not going to pull out their phone and look you up.

That moment is your moment. And if you don't use it, it's gone.

Here's the mistake most people make: they wait. They hand over a card, say something vague like "I work in real estate" or "I run a company," and hope the other person fills in the blanks.

They won't. They can't. You haven't given them anything to work with.

Sharing what makes you different isn't bragging. It's a data point. It helps the other person make the right decision — whether to hire you, refer you, partner with you, or connect you to someone who will.

Think about it from the other side. When someone tells you exactly who they are, who they help, and why they're the right person — you don't think they're arrogant. You think: good, I know exactly what to do with this person.

WHAT THIS LOOKS LIKE IN REAL LIFE:

Instead of "I am a leadership coach" try:

"I work with first-time managers at fast-growing companies who are struggling to lead without burning out. My clients go from overwhelmed to running high-performing teams — usually within six months."

Instead of "I'm a real estate agent" try:

"I specialize in first-time buyers in Brooklyn. I've closed 40+ deals in the last two years.”

Instead of "I'm a life coach" try:

"I work with burned-out executives who want to stop white-knuckling through their days. Most of my clients double their focus within 90 days."

See the difference? Specific. Real. Confident.

A SIMPLE FRAMEWORK TO BUILD YOUR OWN:

1. Who you help — not "businesses" or "people." Name a specific type of person or industry.

2. What you do for them — the outcome, not the service. Not "I do marketing" but "I help founders get their first 10,000 users."

3. One proof point — a number, a name, a result. Something real. This is the part most people skip. Don't skip it.

THIS WEEK'S CHALLENGE:

Write your two-sentence intro using that framework. Then say it out loud. Practice it until it's automatic. That's when it actually works.

You shouldn't have to shrink yourself to make other people comfortable. Own what you do. Say it clearly. The right people will respond.
